Five years ago Rebecca and Michael came back from living in Melbourne and looked at the possibility of buying a house in Auckland.Prices were so high, they decided the only way to get into the market was to buy a older house and relocate it onto a block of land.
“We found a site at Riverhead, and wanted a house that was not huge, but had good bones and plenty of potential,” Rebecca Beavis says. “We thought houses available for removal often have character, and lovely matai floors. And we wanted a house with a reasonable kitchen, to save on the cost of putting in a new one.”
